I can't really say that I'm surprised
when we were children
the house we snuck in
the man said the owners there had died
and how that would scare
us two
we found snow globes in the bathroom
and a cracked chess set
I took it home
Every winter
11 hours
wasting 2 tanks on Chicago
it started with a house full of boxes
then progressed to many guest rooms
and sleeping alone
these walls are blue
mine were black
picture frames
and books are packed
I can't say why I keep coming here
we called it home
When will you let me go where I'm going, when it's not in your arms?"

since the later half of 2009
wrote about bad dreams

I'm a nowhere kid. ever since I was born.

that's all I have to give
I've built a home that we deserve
It's nothing special and it's made of dirt
like me
But our story is painted on the walls
and the doormat reads, "don't give up on us"
And if we did
if it's abandoned
the doors never had a key
So when kids sneak in
and swear it's haunted
they'll know that we were as red as kings.
